So here it is: my Spring 10 Item Wardrobe 2022! I have been working my way up to this. It is quite challenging for someone who has not done one of these before. In the past I have done the Project 333 capsule wardrobes. I am using the Daily Connoisseur’s rules this time from Youtube. She is the originator of the 10 item wardrobe. Also, here is her book that you can reference on the topic: https://amzn.to/3JoS1Xb
The rule is that you have 10 core pieces that you wear daily. The pieces include tops, pants, jeans, shorts, dresses, and blouses. Then you have extras which you do not have a limit for, but you are supposed to make sure they are minimal. Those include the shoes, accessories, t shirts, loungewear, pjs, bags, jackets, work out attire, cardigans, and special occasion wear.
So, I will be showing you my 10 items, as well as my main extras. This post will not be including any loungewear, workout wear, accessories in this post. I am sharing my shoes, jackets, cardigans, and special occasion dresses that I will be wearing for the next 3 months until summer. I will let you know if I decide to do another 10 item wardrobe then, or if I decide to go back to doing a typical capsule wardrobe.
1. Brown T Shirt

This is one of my most worn shirts from last summer, it is so comfortable, and definitely a favorite. I will definitely be wearing it a ton this year. It is made of raw silk, and has a nubby texture that I love. This shirt is basically a neutral, and so I can pair it with anything. I am always looking for shirts, and clothing in general that has lots of texture.

2. Cream T shirt

This shirt is also super comfortable. I have been looking for a cream t shirt for awhile. This shirt fit the bill. All of the items I buy I try to buy with natural materials if possible. They last longer, and they don’t get a smell easily. I am always looking for 100 percent Cotton, Silk, Tencil, Leather, Wool, or Cashmere.
If you look for the materials things are made out of before you buy them you will save money in the long run. These materials last significantly longer than other materials. If you want to thrift your 10 item wardrobe Poshmark is a great place to look, and you can always ask the seller what the item is made of. The sellers usually are happy to accommodate you. When you buy something new you can also look in the description, and the company will tell you what it is made of.

3. Light Wash Skinny Jeans

These are my favorite skinny jeans so far. I love light wash jeans that have some distressing, but not too much. Worn in looking jeans are often something that I am looking for when buying jeans. When buying skinny jeans I like to get them with a stretchy comfy material. These are the jeans that I wear the most around the house. They feel more like wearing leggings than a typical jean.

4. Floral Blouse

I really like floral as far as patterns go. If I choose a pattern to go with its a small floral or its a stripe. I do not often buy any patterns. The reason being that I found that I was always decluttering, and getting tired of patterns. Overtime patterns can get outdated, or just become old after you have seen them so many times. So I often have to be careful when choosing them, and keep them very limited.
I have had this blouse for 3 or 4 years now. It is something I love to pull out in spring and summer. It is a cotton blouse, and it is a thin cotton so its breathable in summer. I often tuck it into jeans when I wear it. It is always nice as a mom to have items in your closet that are special, that fit well, and that you can wear in casual or dressy situations.

5. Floral Blouse

This is another floral blouse that I love. It is more of an empire waste, and I find this cut flattering for hiding a postpartum tummy. This is also a light material good for hotter weather. By the end of spring we have summer temperatures here where we live, so it is good that most of my spring items work for hot weather as well as cool.

6. Long Sleeve Cream Tunic

So as you can tell I love my neutrals, and textures. 🙂 I am a huge fan of tunics, because I have large hips and they help slim them out some. This one my husband liked a lot when I got it. I can tell something fits, and looks good when my husband notices it. This is a linen top. It is really nice for hot and cool weather.

Most of these items you cannot find anymore, because the places I got them from do not sell them anymore. I have had a lot of them for a long time. I also prefer not to link any clothing items or list brands, because my goal is to not entice you to shop.
This post is to give you ideas of how to style, and have a smaller wardrobe. Also, this post is so that you will see how the 10 item wardrobe can work. My body is most likely very different from yours, and so is my needs, and taste. So it is important for you to look at your own needs, and tastes when deciding what to put in your wardrobe. Most of us have way larger wardrobes than we need, including me. I am constantly working to downsize my wardrobe, and to not shop.
7. Short Sleeve Grey Tunic

The palette I tend to go with is earthy tones. I try to make most of my pieces as neutral as I can, so that I can pair them with more items. I have worked on this palette for years. It takes a lot of time to slowly get pieces that work well together. It is not something you can just get overnight. This tunic is one that is so versatile. I wore this when 37 weeks pregnant, and I can wear this now that I am not pregnant. It is also made of linen.

8. Brown Tunic

This is a brown silk tunic that is long sleeved. It is more dressy, and so I wear it more for going out. I am trying to wear it more actually, so I have included it so that I can intentionally use it more in daily life. It flows so nicely, and is a flattering cut.

9. Loose Fit Straight Leg Jeans

These jeans are a light wash more rigid denim, so the fact that they are loose fit helps. They are a size up from my pre pregnancy size, but I bought them in a bigger size because they are my favorites. It may seem redundant to have two pairs of jeans in a a similar wash, but it is definitely the wash I gravitate towards especially in the warmer months.
10. Long Sleeve Cream Thermal

This top is super comfortable, and yes another cream top. lol! Can you tell it is my favorite color of clothing to wear. It is made of cotton, and it has been a top I have worn all winter. It will continue to follow my wardrobe through spring. It will be too hot for summer, but wearing it as long as I can.
Extras
These are the layers that I will be putting on top of my tops, my shoes, as well as a couple dresses that I will wear for special occasions.

So that is My Spring 10 Item Wardrobe 2022
I hope that you enjoyed this post, it was a fun post to do. Lots of pictures in this one;)

Hey!! Love this post so much! Very inspiring. I was wondering about your leather lace up boots – can you share the brand? Thanks!
Thank you! They are the Redwing Silversmith idk if they have this color anymore, got them awhile ago. I forget actually the specific color. Hope that helps.
Really enjoyed a look at your spring 10 item wardrobe! I’ve been following Jennifer for a while and love the approach. It’s nice to see other peoples interpretation!
Could you share where the two floral dresses are from? Love the pattern and lengths of them both! Thank you!
Thank you. So much! One was from neuflora and the other I have had for years from sezane.
I’ve simplified but not gone as far as the ten item wardrobe. This is inspiring me to go further!
Do you have a different set of 10 items for each season?
Also just ordered the book you recommended today on your ig stories!
Thanks for inspiring me!
I am glad it is helpful. You can choose to change it up seasonally or not. We have 4 seasons, so I will change it up. I might keep some of the same for the hotter months, and then some of the same for cooler months. Maybe after doing it for a year or so I might keep more of the items the same. Unsure. So far it has been super helpful in knowing what items I truly wear.
